Parent of a Child Student

If a child has received a Child Student visa, then one of the parents can accompany them until the child is 12 years old. A Parent of a Child Student visa allows you to stay with your child in the UK for 12 months and renew your visa every 12 months without leaving the UK. An indispensable condition is that the child must study in a day school without living there. The parents of a child studying at a boarding school cannot obtain such a visa.

Only one of the parents can obtain such a visa, and the other parent must be outside the UK.

When applying for a visa, the IHS fee must be paid.

Finance

Applicant must show £1,560 in their account for each month of stay in the UK, up to a maximum of 9 months. This amount is calculated per parent and per child. If the parent wants to bring another child, then an additional £625 per month will need to be shown. The second child must also apply for or already have a Child Student visa. The amount must be on the parent’s account for at least 28 days as a minimum balance. The amount can be in any currency, but is checked in pounds at the exchange rate on the date of submission of the application on the website www.oanda.com

If the parent and/or child has been in the UK on any valid visa for at least 12 months, financial requirements do not apply.
Students of all ages, as well as accompanying parents on a Parent of a Student Child visa, must take a tuberculosis test if they are residents of one of the countries on the Home Office list. The certificate with test results is valid for 6 months.

The Parent of a Child Student visa itself does not qualify for permanent residence, but the time spent on this visa counts towards the 10-year period of continuous legal residence in the UK, on the basis of which you can obtain permanent residence.
